Project Management 101 (Beginners Level) is designed to equip new managers with the essential skills, tools, and mindset to lead projects effectively from start to finish. Through relatable, real-world examples—ranging from system implementations and marketing campaigns to product launches—participants will explore the five stages of project management—Initiation, Planning, Execution, Monitoring & Controlling, and Closing—and learn how to apply proven methodologies in diverse workplace scenarios.

This course is HRDC-compliant and focuses on giving beginners a clear, structured understanding of project management fundamentals while introducing commonly used tools like Gantt charts, Kanban boards, and the GROW model.

  3. Apply planning tools like Gantt charts, Kanban boards, SMART goals, and risk management frameworks.
  4. Execute and monitor projects effectively, using dashboards, reports, and quality control procedures.
  5. Close projects with impact, applying the GROW model for reflection and continuous improvement.
  6. Translate project management strategies into workplace success through practical application.

Module 1: Project Management Foundations

  • Differences between operations and project management
  • Overview of predictive, adaptive, and hybrid approaches
 

 

Module 2: Stage 1 – Initiation

  • Business case & feasibility study
  • Project charter development (example: LMS for SMEs)
  • Stakeholder identification and analysis
 

 

Module 3: Stage 2 – Planning

Objective: 

Content & Activities:

  • Scope, schedule, and budget planning
  • Risk management and resource allocation
  • SMART goals and communication planning
  • Tools: Gantt chart, RACI matrix, Kanban board
 

 

Module 4: Stage 3 – Execution

Objective:

Content & Activities:

  • Task assignment and collaboration tools
  • Workflow tracking with Kanban boards
  • Managing changes during execution
 

 

Module 5: Stage 4 – Monitoring & Controlling

  • Tracking project performance using KPIs
  • Quality control and assurance procedures
  • Reporting to stakeholders
