Module 1 – Understanding Payroll Basics

  • Payroll cycle and key steps from data collection to payment
  • Salary components: basic pay, allowances, overtime, commissions
  • Difference between gross salary, net salary, and take-home pay

Module 2 – Employment Law & Entitlements

  • Overview of Employment Act 1955 and related regulations
  • Minimum Wages Order and overtime rules
  • Annual leave, sick leave, public holidays, calculation and compliance

Module 3 – Statutory Contributions Overview

  • Introduction to EPF, SOCSO, EIS, PCB, Zakat & HRDC
  • Who is covered and who is exempted
  • Importance of statutory deadlines and record-keeping

Module 4 – Hands-On: Salary & Deduction Calculations

  • Group exercise: computing monthly salary with overtime and allowances
  • Deduction calculation for EPF, SOCSO, EIS, PCB, Zakat & HRDC
  • Common mistakes and how to avoid them

Module 5 – EPF, SOCSO, EIS & HRDC in Practice

  • Latest contribution rates and employer/employee shares
  • Special cases: new hires, foreign workers, part-timers
  • Using i-Akaun, ASSIST & HRDC portal for submissions

Module 6 – PCB & Income Tax Compliance

  • Understanding PCB and its role in annual tax submissions
  • PCB calculation basics and tax relief considerations
  • Using LHDN’s e-PCB and e-Data PCB systems
  • Bonus: Aligning Zakat contribution with PCB calculation

Module 7 – Payroll Processing Best Practices

  • Payroll software vs manual processing – pros and cons
  • Monthly payroll checklist for accuracy and compliance
  • Preparing payslips and maintaining employee records

Module 8 – Practical Simulation: Running a Payroll Month

  • Participants act as payroll officers for a sample company
  • Calculate salaries, deductions, and generate payslips
  • Complete statutory forms and e-file submissions within deadlines
